Is It Worth $3,499 in 2025?
Apple’s second-generation Vision Pro has officially landed—and as someone who’s used the first gen extensively, I was eager to get my hands (and eyes) on the new model. With improved specs, better comfort, and a stronger app ecosystem, Apple is pushing spatial computing even closer to the mainstream.
Here’s my full hands-on user review after 10 days of real-world use.
⭐ First Impressions
Right out of the box, the unboxing experience is classic Apple: premium materials, clean design, and a setup process that’s actually enjoyable. The Vision Pro 2 now feels noticeably lighter, which was one of the biggest complaints from Gen 1 users (including me).
🧠 Performance & Display
The visuals are absolutely stunning. Apple upgraded the micro-OLED displays to even higher resolution (rumored 4K per eye), and it shows. Watching a movie in Apple TV+ is like sitting in a private IMAX theater. Gestures are much more responsive now thanks to the new M3 Ultra chip.
Highlights:
Incredibly low latency for multitasking
Seamless app switching with hand gestures
Improved eye tracking and spatial awareness
🛠️ Productivity Use Case
Apple wants this to replace your MacBook—and for basic tasks, it can. I used it for email, spreadsheets, and multitasking in Safari. You can connect it to a Magic Keyboard and Mouse for a pseudo-laptop setup. Spatial video editing in Final Cut Pro feels futuristic.
But don’t toss your laptop yet—power users will still want a Mac nearby.
🎮 Entertainment & Gaming
This is where it shines. The second-gen model includes deeper Apple Arcade integration and SteamVR support via SideCar, which opens up a whole new world for gamers. Add in Spatial Audio and you have a truly immersive experience.
What I loved:
Watching NBA games in 360°
Playing Resident Evil Village in VR
Disney+ spatial content—mind-blowing!
🔋 Battery Life
Battery life has improved slightly—from 2 hours to 2.5 hours of continuous use. Still not amazing, but better. You can now wear an optional neck battery pack, which balances the weight and extends battery to 5 hours. It’s an extra $199 though.
😌 Comfort & Fit
This was my #1 gripe with Gen 1—and Apple listened. The new dual-strap design evenly distributes weight. You can now wear it comfortably for an entire movie without needing a neck massage afterward.
Fit Tips:
The Solo Knit Band is great for casual use.
The Dual Loop Band is better for productivity sessions.
🧩 App Ecosystem
The visionOS App Store is finally alive. Adobe, Zoom, and Microsoft have all launched native spatial apps. You’ll find over 400+ optimized apps right now, and new ones are being added weekly.
🛑 What I Didn’t Like
Still too expensive for most people
Limited third-party accessories
No native Google apps (Gmail, YouTube, etc.)
✅ Final Verdict: Should You Buy It?
If you’re a creative, early adopter, or power user who wants the best mixed reality experience on the planet, the Apple Vision Pro 2 is phenomenal.
For casual users or budget-conscious buyers, it’s still too early. Wait for the rumored “Vision SE” coming in 2026.
